Palin recently accused Obama of "palling around with terrorists" given of his history of ties to William Ayers, a '60s radical. Obama turned around and critiqued McCain's healthcare plan. How dare he! Ayers was co-founder of the Weather Underground. See his mugshot from 1968 above. Obama's contact with him, however, occurred more recently, while Ayers was a professor at University of Illinois - Chicago . According to the Washington Post:
Both Obama and Ayers were members of the board of an anti-poverty group, the Woods Fund of Chicago, between 1999 and 2002.Wow! They served on the same social justice board. When will the politicians learn that we want substance?
And my favorite, from a NY Times article, Bill McInturff, one of Mr. McCain’s pollsters tries to minimize Obama's lead by attacking the fact he should be leading by more:
Senator Obama has more money than God, the most favorable political climate imaginable — a three-week Wall Street meltdown and financial crisis — and with all that, the most margin he can get is four points?

I think it is safe to say Ayers has some substantial mistakes in his past but since he came out of hiding he has mostly been involved in improving American education policy. At least, that's what he's known for among people I know.
I would happily be publicly associated with him.
I'm guessing Palin hasn't actually read Ayer's memior, Fugitive Days.

I keep thinking that this sort of thing should be covered by anti-defamation laws. How much can one party's candidates lie about another's before it becomes illegal?
Republicans are truly the regressive party. This is pure guilt by association-real McCarthyite BS.
