The Writing on the Wall, uh... Screen

There was a really cool article in the WaPo this morning on the words used on the official Obama and McCain sites. Both sites focus primarily on Obama. That's right--keep him on the defense! This was illustrated by entering their sites into wordle. Using wordle, you can also turn any website into word art. The images below are from the WaPo article. On the left is Obama's site, on the right is McCain's. Not much difference, right?

It's amazing! And fun! Here we are:

OK, I couldn't resist. Here's another!

Oooooh fun with words! I love words!

It's not really surprising that both pages have so many of the same words, or that the #1 in both is Obama. Sidenote: Am I the only one who has been particularly disappointed at the McCain campaign lately? I don't have high expectations, but they are quickly reaching a new low for me. Why can't people just get over the crap and stop supporting McCain?!

I liked the (spoof) open letter from the whole world to McCain, asking him to drop out of the race. It made me snicker.

The Paris Hilton ad sounds really low. I am not sure who that would even appeal to.

Even worse - as Jon Stewart pointed out the other night, the Hilton family contributed HUGE sums of money to McCain. Hopefully they'll all vote for Obama now.

From the context of your site, clearly you are versed in women's issues and rights. Thinking Aloud recently recorded a show on history Feminist rhetoric. We would love for you to listen to the show and share your opinion!

I'm not sure if it is the same program as that mentioned in the comment above, but the BBC's Radio 4 Thinking Allowed program on feminism and language can be found here under Editor's Picks.
