Love Does Not Rejoice in Injustice: Vote No on Proposition 8

Why should Californians vote No on Proposition 8 come November? I think this says it fairly well:

Ah, but apparently love is synonymous with marriage and as any self-respecting, right-wing, "family values" conservative will tell you...marriage is between a man and a woman. Ergo...so is love.

Grrr....

You know how I feel about this. Oh how I wish I could hang my hat on the hope that the video here will be enough to defeat Prop8. Alas, it's been a rough week plus around this neck of the woods so I am feeling rather cynical.

Funny that we read this differently - I totally saw the video as lecturing the "family values" crowd using their own religious language, pointing out that those who resent their fellow citizens and rejoice in injustices against them are lacking in love. I liked it because it showed the hypocrisy of the homophobes that cloak their bigotries in religious terms.

As far as it being a rough week - yeah, I think its been a tough few weeks for everyone...

I really hope CA doesn't mess this up...

Oh no...we read it the same way.

It totally points out the hypocrisy. Thing is, those who want Prop8 to succeed manage to pick and chose what they want from the Bible in order to cling to homophobia.

So, cynical me doesn't believe that the video is going to make a dent. Cynical me believes Prop8 is going to pass. Please for the love of all that is good let CA prove me wrong.

I'm worried too. I think, though, that guilt is a powerful motivator- and if we can get people to feel guilty about their bigotries, we have a chance...

I think that makes me a cynic too, huh?
