That's right folks, it is fantasy football time again in Mächtige Maus/Agincourt world. And by fantasy football I mean American football (not to be confused with the English Premier League football aka soccer fantasy league we are part of). I first posted about fantasy football here.
Yes, there was a bit of gloating going on with that post since I did win the inaugural work fantasy football league. More than that though was the concept of female equality in sport...which of course translates into female equality in life.
I must admit that I am remarkably lucky. I am competing in a league of ten teams. The team of Mächtige Maus/Agincourt, appropriately name Okie's Pokies, is the only female based team of the bunch. In many circles, as the original post mentioned, women get no respect. I've never really felt that at work. If the guys I am competing against feel shamed by being beaten by a woman, they are at least cultured enough to not let me ever know as much. They get bonus points for that.
Basically this is my shout out to all my feminist friends. Be cheering for football this season even if you don't care a thing about it. You've got two sisters out there right now trying to prove to the world (fine...a small subculture of the world if you will) that there are indeed women out there who can hold their own when it comes to sporting knowledge.

If we're posting on our weekend diversions, let me just say that I just discovered Battlestar Galactica. Wow.
OMG! I LOVE BSG! It's sooooo good - I can't believe it's almost over.
My guy won his fantasy football league last year and there's a lot of excitement this year for the possibility of him doing it again (we don't much like his brothers haha).
Fantasy Football....grrrrrr...
The last two seasons I've played (the only two mind you) I've made it to the championship...just to lose to my coworker wife each time. To lose the championship to the same person twice in a row just hurts...
