Publishing opportunity

The Washington Post magazine has a new opportunity for women to publish short essays about life from the female perspective. It's called XX files. Submit your own at xxfiles@washpost.com.

Details:
  • 750 to 900 words
  • must be factual
  • include full name, phone number and e-mail address

Check out this weekend's "Art of the Bluff".

Sigh. If the Washington Post Magazine would allow anonymous posts, I might give it a shot. Alas, I must maintain my low profile. It does make me all the more intriguing though, no?

I do hope some of our other writers and readers take up the challenge. I do so enjoy reading about people I know. It makes me feel connected to something larger than just my day to day grind.

So...all you Feminist Underground-ers...write it up!

You can read the actual call for submissions here, posted at the Washington Post on July 10. There doesn't seem to be a deadline, and the only guideline seems to be that they want personal essays from women, and that those essays must be true. I curious to see what they decide to publish.

Here is the problem for me "author's full name, phone number and e-mail address. Keep in mind that we can't accept anonymous pitches or pseudonyms (either in the story or for the author".

I need the anonymous route.

Don't you mean you need the anon-y-MAUS route?

Look, these are the jokes, kids...

Hee hee! Funny!

I don't get it, Maus. Why don't you just write about something that won't get you in trouble?

Granted, none of my potential personal essays involve nudity, so it's hard to compete with bluffing in the buff.

Ah. Good point. I must admit, what I *really* want to write about I cannot because it does require discretion. However, I suppose I could ponder upon an alternate topic.

Hmmmm...I might have a new task now. I am so very open to the power of persuasion.

Thanks for the push.

We should all contribute - I dare you! After all, we're pretty used to writing for no pay...

I've been thinking about what I should write, but I don't have any good stories :(
