Bailout Blues

Ok. Things aren't going so well in the world. The much-needed bailout failed to pass today despite its support by Democrats and the White House. And who's fault is it? Nancy Pelosi's of course! She's the reason why Republicans are such suborn fuck-wads! It's not the Republican's faults for voting against the bill to save our dying economy! It's all the mean lady's fault.

To make this day end in tears mixed with laughter (instead of just pure tears), here is one of my favorite clips from SNL. It celebrates women--and more specifically Moms.

Loup, I hate this sketch! I know, I know - we're supposed to agree on everything always, and I'm sure in the future we always will - but, come on, my mom reads this site!

So what was supposed to be the funny part? That women who are mothers can't be sexy attractive women? That women who are mothers shouldn't act as if they are sexy attractive women and they look ridiculous if they try to?

Lighten up! Haven't you ever seen anyone in Mom Jeans before? The "9-inch zipper"?

I think that there is a tendency for women to loose their sexualities and identities once they have children. Doesn't mean it's right. Maybe we should have a post on that...Some one with kids, maybe.

Some women may choose to think of themselves in less sexual terms after they have children. Women who do not choose to do so do not deserve to be mocked any more than women without children who choose to not think of themselves in sexual terms deserve to be mocked.

Individuals' sexuality and how to express it are personal choices and decisions. People should not be mocked or degraded on the basis of what those personal choices and actions are.
