Needed: Feminist Tribute Pumpkins!

Every October, pumpkins are carved around these parts - many of them by me. Last year I carved a Stephen Colbert tribute pumpkin, and the year before that I carved the pirate fish of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I've realized, though, that in all the pumpkin carving parties I've ever attended, there has never been a pumpkin carved with the likeness of any female. This is a travesty and must be remedied! I need ideas for an easily recognizable (and carve-able) female icon for my next pumpkin. The party is this Saturday, so please submit ideas ASAP.

Just to give you an idea of what can be done with a pumpkin as an artistic medium, here are some examples from the last two years:

El Che:

Le Colbert:

The Group (Florida was scary at the time, trust me):

UPDATE: What is a bigger travesty - that most pumpkins don't get carved with women's images, or that I don't notice the ones that do? My apologies to the Harriet Miers pumpkin (spooky, huh?) and to her carver, who is both a feminist and a gentleman.

UPDATE II: No way! Pink Raygun has pumpkin carving templates - and they include Pan's Labyrinth images and Uhura from Star Trek. Sweet.

You gotta do Janis Joplin, girl. And whilst you carve, in tribute to the songstress, you must partake of some Southern Comfort and listen to me n bobby mcgee... :)

It is a pretty good idea. What I need is an iconic, easily recognizable image that can be reduced to black and white and traced onto the pumpkin's surface. The most iconic image of Joplin, I think, is the picture of her on the motorcycle from the greatest hits album. Or perhaps I could do one of her singing into the microphone with a hand up by her face.

Well, you could carve Hillary Clinton. It sure would scare conservatives.

I do like political pumpkins...
but, how about an Amelie Poulain pumpkin. She has easily recognizable hair.

It's a shame that you can't quite pull off Angela Merkel *with* the Bush shoulder rub in the background!

Hey - thanks for noticing our templates. We've also got the women from Firefly available, and Claire from Heroes. We'll be finishing up a whole bunch of templates this weekend, including Battlestar Galactica (especially the ladies of...), Stephen King's Carrie, Labyrinth and Dark Crystal, Star Trek: Next Generation, and others.

Ooooh - Dark Crystal! Can you tell that a Gelfling is a lady Gelfling on a pumpkin?

I can't wait to see the new templates and we'll definitely be using some of them at Saturday's carving. I'll post pictures of our work and credit Pink Raygun for the templates we use.
