Feminist Movies!
Yup, even the sometimes intimidating MarkH is looking forward to seeing The Golden Compass, a children's movie that stars a girl for a change! I am proud of New Line Cinema for neither taking Warner's line that movies about women don't sell, nor being cowed by the religious crazies.
UPDATE:
Look, Americans - Catholic Spain isn't afraid to market a movie in which the Church is portrayed as evil. Yet another example of how they more progressive than we are now. Also, by popular demand, here is the site where you can take the test to "meet your daemon." I took the test twice and got a raccoon both times (because I am inquisitive and sociable), and then I took it once in which I lied on all the questions and got a mouse. So. What's your daemon?
UPDATE II: I can't take that preview opening up every time I check the site, so if you want to see the (beautiful) trailer, you are just going to have to check out the official site.

Mandara the tiger for me!
This only took a second and I'm happy because I got a fox.
Alvin (Alvin???!!!!??) the snow leopard for me. And I must (tentatively) say that I disagree with the assertion that I am assertive. Ask anyone who has been out to eat with me. All I ever assert is that beer must be available. After that, I'm pretty easy.
Tigers, foxes and snow leopards!?! My raccoon is going to lose every fight! (Don't worry - I just retook the test and got Adan the Tiger - so, ha!)
Agincourt, unlike you, leopards certainly aren't easy.
Zotius the Osprey for me! How very ironic...I've always wanted to be reincarnated as a peregrine falcon. This is remarkably close, no? I am apparently soft spoken, solitary, modest, proud, and dependable. Go figure.
Agincourt would like to point out at this time that Alvin is a suitable retro name and she is okay with that. Really, she is. He's hip.
Maus???
To date I have 3 raccoons and one tiger. Oh - and a mouse from the time I lied on all the questions. If I keep taking this test I'll have a veritable menagerie.
"the sometimes intimidating MarkH"! HaHaHa!!! I like how you caged it as sometimes :)
Yeah, sometimes - and sometimes that tiger daemon of his looks more like a kitten.
I can talk all bad like that 'cause I'm in a different state right now. Tigers look little from a few hundred miles away.
Ohhh great post! I loved this movie!!
