Dating Tips of Yesteryear: Stuffed Animals are Man Bait
Watch ladies from the 80's explain how we women go about our man-hunting all wrong (!), then let me know if you think dating advice has really changed much since the shoulder-pad era:
Oh, look a dating training video. I can't believe that dating is as naive as this but know it is because I haven't been on a date for 1 1/2 years. Men don't want an intelligent woman who knows her own mind and is successful and independent. This video just hammers home the behaviors we as women are to espouse in order to "catch" a man. No thanks. I put away my rod and reel a long time ago because all the fish were too small to bother with.
I think the creepiest thing about the video is how it encourages infantile behavior (hold a stuffed animal to keep from looking like a ... ?!?) - heaven forbid we look intimidating...
Still, I don't think that men all want ditzy women, but I do think we send lots of messages to young women that imply that their best chance at happiness is through romance, and that their best chance at romance is by seeming, well, infantile.

Nothing says Daddy complex like a grown woman speaking softly and carrying around a stuffed animal.
