Low NO disinhibits them, which is why the P450 enzymes are pretty uncoupled, that is they produce a lot of superoxide, which pulls down the NO level and disinhibits them so they "do their thing" somewhat faster.

NO causes expression of the phase II daedalus2uhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10416564922288784455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3509053156280655479.post-54267108649543339162008-08-25T21:08:00.000-04:002008-08-25T21:08:00.000-04:00Actually, current data suggest that it's not nitri...Actually, current data suggest that it's not nitric oxide (at least not directly), but rather the CYP 450 system that's involved. The toxins are metabolized in a 2-step process: first oxidized by the cytochrome system, then conjugated by aldehyde oxidase. Elimination requires both steps, but estrogen upregulates only the first. The problem is that the oxidized crud builds up and causes all Another Anonymous Posterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10805120757173334654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3509053156280655479.post-45964394128380125252008-08-25T21:02:00.000-04:002008-08-25T21:02:00.000-04:00Daed--that is a grossly over-simplified view of th...Daed--that is a grossly over-simplified view of the mechanisms of disease. People are pretty sure that that contributes to the reduced incidence of heart disease in pre-menopausal women. That is probably the mechanism for a lot of the reduced incidence of many diseases in pre-menopausal women. The loss of that NO is what causes daedalus2uhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10416564922288784455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3509053156280655479.post-5148962687314456412008-08-25T17:51:00.000-04:002008-08-25T17:51:00.000-04:00The ad is incredibly sexist, too. I always think that gendered ads for gender neutral items are so weird. It's as if you can see the wheels turning in their heads "how can we make this a product geared towards men/women?!" Often, they fail miserably, IMO.sallyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01054413520223145494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3509053156280655479.post-64546477121764797112008-08-24T21:40:00.000-04:002008-08-24T21:40:00.000-04:00Awesome post, Loup.If anyone has an historical ben...Awesome post, Loup.

If anyone has an historical bent, check out this link to Stanford University's medical library site. Why are women being assumed to have less serious diseases? And what is going on in the South East to shorten women's lives?habladorahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01730183259272125337noreply@blogger.com
